Senior Consultant – Medicine
Dr. Mohammed Alhatou clinical has special interest in neuromuscular diseases. He was the chair of the Department of Neurology at the Regional Medical Center of Orangeburg and Calhoun Counties from 2002 to 2015. He recently joined HMC.
Dr. Alhatou is board-certified in neurology, clinical neurophysiology, electromyography, neuromuscular disorders and neuroimaging.
Dr. Alhatou obtained his undergraduate degree at the University of Tishreen, where he went on to earn his medical degree. He completed his residency in neurology at the University of Virginia and his fellowship in neuromuscular disease and electromyography at Emory University.
Dr. Alhatou has multiple publications. He is a primary investigator in multiple drug studies in neuropathy, dementia, stroke and epilepsy. His academic interests include the education of physicians, patients and families.
Dr. Alhatou is married and has four children.
