Mrs. Dhakiya Said Ali Al-Noobi
Senior Specialist Prosthetist and Orthotist
Head of Prosthetic and Orthotic Department, Khoula Hospital, Sultanate of Oman
Mrs. Dhakiya is the first Omani specialist prosthetist and orthotist, with 24 years of experience. She graduated from Strathclyde University in Glasgow, UK, with a BSc (Honors) in Prosthetics and Orthotics. She is a member of the International Society of Prosthetics and Orthotics (ISPO) and played a key role in the establishment of the United Arab Society for Prosthetics and Orthotics (UASPO) in Jordan in 2012. Mrs. Dhakiya has been a speaker at the Gulf Diabetes Foot Conference since 2012.
Her department at Khoula Hospital provides orthotic and prosthetic services for orthopedic patients and the disabled community in Oman, supporting over 7,000 users. Her expertise focuses on the prevention and management of diabetic foot complications through prosthetic and orthotic care, including amputation challenges and the use of prostheses.
At the Gulf Diabetic Foot Conference 2024, her presentation will cover the rehabilitation goals for diabetic foot patients, specific interventions like custom shoes and braces, the role of ongoing monitoring and follow-up in rehabilitation, and how AI is used to customize prosthetic and orthotic devices based on patient data.
